Transsion Holdings owned phone maker -Tecno mobile has just officially unveiled three smartphones under its Camon series of smartphones. Dubbed the Tecno Camon 16, the three smartphones are sequels to last year’s camon 15 series, and as expected comes in three variants including the Tecno Camon 16 Premier, Tecno Camon 16 Pro, and the Tecno Camon 16.
The brand made the official unveiling earlier today, when it unveiled details of the Tecno Camon 16 Premier, while details of the Camon 16 Pro and Camon 16 were left out. While we do know the three devices have four cameras on the back and two on the front, the Camon 16 Premier appears to pack more high-end specs.
It gets a dual selfie camera setup with a 48-megapixel main front camera as well as a quad-camera setup at the back. The quad-cameras include a 64 MP Sony IMX686 main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide-angle snapper, and two 2MP units to assist night photos, and Portraits.
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier is fronted by a tall 6.9” Full HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a pill-shaped punch hole for the two selfie cameras. The device has no visible fingerprint scanner, neither is there any under the display. The scanner is embedded on the right under the power key.
The Tecno Camon 16 Premier is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G90T SoC, paired with 8GB RAM. And in terms of storage, the device has 128GB onboard storage expandable up to 512GB using a microSD slot. Other details include a 4,500mAh battery with 33W fast charging, Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS, and more.
Tecno Camon 16 Premier price, availability
The Tecno Camon 16 Pro and Camon 16 are expected to go on sale later this month, while the Tecno Camon 16 Premier is already on sale in Kenya. It is priced at KES28,499 for the sole 8GB + 128GB storage model in Kenya. You can get the Camon 16 Premier only in Glacial Silver colour option.
