Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is Announced Too, 16GB RAM, 100X Zoom, 5G and More

Samsung at its annual Galaxy Unpacked hardware event in San Francisco, USA, not only unveiled its second attempt at foldable smartphones – the Galaxy Z Flip, the Galaxy S2, S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra were also launched to the full glare of the public. The S20 and S20+ are the mutual successor to the S10 and S10+ respectively, so the Galaxy S10e got no sequel. Instead, Samsung has introduced a new Galaxy S20 Ultra model which is unarguably the best of the trio.

The S20 Ultra gets a similar design as with the S20, and S20+, and that includes the same curved QHD+ Infinity-O display, 120Hz refresh rate, and a Quad camera setup on the back panel. There is also the single circular cut out on the display that houses a single selfie camera.

Speaking of the display, the Galaxy S20 ultra flaunts a display size never seen before on any Galaxy S and even the Galaxy Note series. With a display size of  6.9-inches, the S20 Ultra is larger than the Galaxy Note10+ which boasts only a 6.8-inch display. The device is considerably thicker than both the S20 and S20+, as well as the entire Galaxy S10 smartphones, thanks in part to the 5,000mAh battery. Speaking of the 5,000mAh battery, the device supports 45W wired fast charging and Fast Wireless Charging as well as a new Wireless PowerShare feature to charge Qi-compatible devices on the back of the phones.

It is powered by Snapdragon 865 / Exynos 990 SoC depending on the market and with Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 / Exynos Modem 5123 modem and up to whopping 16GB RAM.

Much like most modern flagship smartphones, the S20 Ultra is all focused on its camera prowess. And for that, Samsung has employed a 108MP sensor with OIS. The sensor uses Pixel binning to combine nine pixels into one, ending up with a 12MP photo that’s ostensibly much, much clearer. Other than the 108Mp sensor, the S20 Ultra has a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide Lens with a 120-degree field of view, 48-megapixel Telephoto lens with OIS with Super Resolution Zoom up to 100X and a depth sensor. The phone features a 40-megapixel front-facing camera.
