Redmi Note 8 camera details surface, to feature SD 665 mobile platform

Xiaomi’s Redmi brand will be updating its Redmi Note series of smartphones in the coming days. We have had quite a number of confirmed info, but more revealing hints about the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are still popping up.

While we know that the Pro variant will come with a Quad-camera setup, Redmi in a fresh Weibo teaser has confirmed that the Vanilla Note 8 will get a similar setup, but might not be as powerful as the Redmi Note 8 Pro setup. For the records, the Note 8 Pro is tipped to come with a Quad camera setup comprising of a 64mp main sensor, but the latest teaser says the base Redmi Note 8 will get a 48-megapixel main camera along with an ultra-wide-angle lens, depth of field lens and a super macro lens, everything arranged vertically. And much like the Pro variant, the base variant will also get a dual-LED flash next to the vertically stacked camera setup.

Furthermore, the company also released a few images that tout the low light prowess of the camera, while also reminding us that the camera uses tetra-pixel binning to make a 12MP image with 1.6μm pixel for night mode shots, similar to the Redmi Note 7 series.

Redmi Note 8 with Snapdragon 665 11nm Mobile Platform

And away from the camera specs, the brand confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 will be getting a boast in the internal makeup – precisely an upgrade from the Snapdragon 660 14nm Mobile Platform in the Redmi Note 7S to the more recent Snapdragon 665 11nm Mobile Platform. With this confirmation, it is now certain that only the Redmi Note 8 pro will get MediaTek’s latest gaming-focused SoC – the Helio G90T. And that by extension suggests that only the Pro variant will get the liquid cooling feature which the company boasts could keep the phone about 4- 6 degrees cooler for longer gaming session without a drop in performance.

World of Warcraft

Meanwhile, a report from Gizchina suggests that the Xiaomi backed Redmi might have inked a deal with World of Warcraft, perhaps for a special edition Redmi Note8 model, exclusive themes and wallpapers, or even a mobile version of World of Warcraft. More of the partnership details will be revealed at the launch in a few days time.
