Oneplus 8 surface in first renders: Punch hole and wireless charging rumored

The Oneplus 7T has only just arrived, and won’t is hitting the retail stores until October 4th. The Chinese phone maker has yet to even unwrap the Oneplus 7T Pro, and now, we hear the firm is already hard at work developing the 2020 Oneplus Phones – the Oneplus 8.

While it looks pretty too early for the Chinese firm to throw in official renders and specs details of the upcoming device, we do have a bunch of the Oneplus 8 renders courtesy all thanks to CashKaro. Notably, the leaked renders suggest the Chinese firm might be dropping the pop-up camera, and tear-drop design for a hole punch display with the front camera module embedded underneath the top left corner of the screen.

Much like the Oneplus 7 Pro, the render suggests that the Oneplus 8 will feature a dual-curved panel with little or no bezel above and down the display. On the flip side, there is a vertically aligned triple rear camera setup with the brand logo, and of course, an LED flash for low light photography.

With a footprint of 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1mm, the Oneplus 8 appears to have a glass rear panel with an aluminum frame sandwiched between the two glass panels. There is the usual USB-C port, speaker, and SIM card slot along the bottom, a volume rocker on the left, and the power key and Alert Slider over on the right.
There is not much we can report in terms of specs, and features, however, the source says the Oneplus 8 will come with support for wireless charging. Apparently, the device will come with improved camera sensors, improved Warp charge, ad, of course, will be based on Qualcomm’s latest and greatest SoC – the upcoming Snapdragon 856 SoC.

Oneplus 8 launch date

The current Oneplus 7 series arrived in May this year, and a similar fate awaits the Oneplus 8 if the firm sticks to its previous launch timeline. However, we could witness an early launch, perhaps in February or March in an attempt to better compete with the likes of the Galaxy S11, LG G9 ThinQ, and Huawei P40 Pro. Official pricing isn’t expected so soon, however, there are chances it could come at about $100 more than the Oneplus 7.

Oneplus Pro also in the card?

Oneplus for the first time ever launched two variants of its flagship device- the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The same fate awaits the Oneplus 7T and its Pro variant, so there are chances the Chinese firm will release a couple of Oneplus 8 smartphones. The Oneplus 8, Oneplus 8 Pro, and perhaps their 5G variant will be announced in the coming year.
