The Chinese smartphone company, Meizu, earlier today held a launch event in China where it released its homegrown Flyme OS. Alongside the custom OS, the firm also introduced new hardware – in the Meizu 16S Pro.
The Meizu 16s Pro with the mere sound is based on the Meizu 16s, featuring a Metal back and front construction. Notably, the device brings to the table an additional rear camera -making a total of 3, an in-display scanner, and of course a front camera.
On the display front, the Meizu 16s Pro comes fitted with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with an ultra-narrow bottom bezel. Oddly, there isn’t any display notch here, instead, the company has hooded the selfie camera into the slim bezel on the forehead. The result is an excellent 91.53 percent STBR, with a full HD+ resolution of 2232 x 1080 pixels. Also, the device boasts of 96.1 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 103 percent NTSC color gamut, 430nits brightness, 160Hz sampling rate, and DC dimming.
There is a Super mTouch in-screen fingerprint scanner embedded into the display, and this the company claims is about 25% faster and more reliable than that on the Meizu 16s.
Much like other mid-year flagship from rival OEMs, the Meizu 16s Pro has the latest Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform under its hood. The SoC is aided by 6 GB and 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to UFS 3.0 256 GB of native storage.
Speaking of the rear cameras, the Meizu 16s Pro gets a triple rear camera as earlier noted. One of those is a 48MP camera, although OEMs are moving past the 48MP mark now, this is an impressive offering from the Chinese brand.
The main snapper is hidden behind a Sony IMX586 sensor with four-axis OIS, while it is aided by a 20-megapixel secondary telephoto lens with Sony IMX350 sensor for 3x lossless zoom and a 16-megapixel Sony IMX481 117° ultra-wide-angle lens that also lets you shoot 2.5cm macro. And above the display, the device gets a 20-megapixel camera for selfie with 0.2-second face unlock, AI beauty features.
The device is fueled by a 3,600mAh battery that supports 24W rapid charging, and boots Flyme OS 8 based Android Pie with One Mind 3.5 AI.
Other notable specs and features include dual linear stereo speaker, mEngine 3.0 that offers more real and delicate vibration effect as well as 4D gaming experience, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, and USB-C. Do note that the device doesnt include a It doesn’t a 3.5mm audio jack, but never to worry, the brand is offering a separate Hi-Fi Auto Pro Type-C to 3.5mm converter with braided cable, Cirrus Logic CS43131 Hi-Fi DAC and Class II TI OPA 1622 operational amplifier (op amp), Hi-Res audio support that promises the best audio experience.
