How to Link PlayStation Account With Discord

Discord is a great communication app and several other platforms like slack, YouTube, Twitter, etc., are integrated with Discord and PlayStation has joined the list of platforms integrated with Discord. If you are reading this, chances are, you already know that it’s now possible to link them that’s why in today’s blog post, I’ll be teaching you how to link a PlayStation account with Discord.

In the past gamers often shared their gaming experience using apps like TeamSpeak and Skype. Using those apps, they could only talk to their friends in-game. People wanted more and just like you might have guessed, many people hated them but since that was the only choice they had to deal with it up until Discord came in May 2015.

Discord was able to fill the hole gamers felt while using TeamSpeak or Skype and people quickly realized it. They found out that on the app, they could talk to their friends whenever they wanted to and they could even talk about other things asides from the game which further strengthens their friendship or bond.

Xbox one integrated with Discord and their integration date back to 2018. Xbox gamers are now able to create communities and talk about their favourite games or practically anything. A lot of PlayStation fans (Except the Windows PC players, they had theirs rolled out some time ago) have wished for a similar experience. If you did, well you don’t have to wish anymore because PlayStation has finally integrated with Discord and in this guide, I’ll be teaching you how to link a PlayStation account with Discord.

The first official announcement about PlayStation integrating with Discord was made in May 2021 and in January 2022 Discord finally launched on the PlayStation ecosystem and now gamers on PlayStation will be able to connect their PlayStation Network account to Discord and will be able to display their game status and activity with friends.

This means that once you are connected the game you are currently playing on your PlayStation 5 or 4 will be displayed as your activity and if you wish, you could also display your PlayStation Network online ID on your profile to enable your Discord friends to add you and also play with you.

How to link PlayStation account with Discord

If you have ever linked any other platform to your Discord, then the steps are practically the same but if you haven’t i.e., to say, this is your first time, then follow the set of instructions in be outlining below to learn how to link PlayStation account with Discord.

  • Open your Discord app on Andriod, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, or even the Web and log into your account.
  • Navigate to the User Settings and select Connections. On the connections page, you’ll find the newly-added PlayStation icon amongst all other icons you can connect to.
  • Select the PlayStation icon. This action will open a browser window where you’ll have to authorize your PlayStation account.
  • Use the window to log in to your account. Once you can successfully log in, your PlayStation Network account will be connected. It’s that simple.

Congratulations! If you followed this guide properly then you have successfully learnt how to link your PlayStation account with Discord, you can now talk to your friends on the Discord app and also let them know the game you are currently playing.

After connecting your PlayStation account to Discord, two options will appear on your PlayStation Network account: “Display PlayStation Network as your status” and “Display on Profile”. You can now select the option that suits you best.

Note: The PlayStation Network account linking feature to Discord is only available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gamers. For your status to be visible on Discord, on your PlayStation Network Privacy Settings, your “Now Playing” and “PSN Online Status” visibility must be set to anyone. Additionally, if you tried linking your account to Discord and you can’t find the PlayStation icon, it’s simply because the feature hasn’t been rolled out in your region yet.

For now, the PlayStation Network account connection is slowly rolling out to US Discord users and additional countries will follow shortly afterwards. Hence, if the feature is not available for you at the moment try checking back later in User Settings > Connections to check if the option is available for you.
