iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max with three rear cameras and night mode announced

The 2019 iPhones are finally here, and as rumored, they come in a trio – the standard iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 is the most basic of the trio, while the Pro version sits between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max. All three devices retain similar designs from last year’s iPhones.

The front notches are still very much present, and on the rear, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max get a square camera array which perhaps is one of the obvious features that set them apart from last year’s devices.

Apple’s Tim Cook in his presentation says the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max are designed for customers who want the “most sophisticated technology.” Designwise, both devices feature a “surgical-grade stainless steel” case and matte finish fitted with a triple rear camera that crams in much power as possible.

Both devices get a new matte finish on the back and new colors: green, space gray, silver, and gold. And similar to the iPhone Xs from 2018, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max feature a 5.8-inches for the iPhone 11 Pro, and 6.5-inches  “Super Retina” OLED screens with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and up to 1,200 nits of brightness in that order Apple says the screen is now 15 percent more energy-efficient, while also claiming that the glass here is the “toughest glass in a smartphone.” The two new iPhone 11 Pro are water-resistant with IP68 ratings up to a depth of 4 metres up to 30 minutes.

And while we can not be certain if these devices get larger in the battery department, Apple says the iPhone 11 Pro will get four more hours of battery life than the XS, and the 11 Pro Max will get five hours more than the XS Max. Fortunately, both the iPhone 11 Pro get bundled with an 18-watt faster charger in the box.

iPhone 11 Pro

The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max are powered by Apple’s new A13 Bionic processor which powers the cheaper iPhone 11. The new processor is said to be about 20 percent faster than the A12 in terms of CPU and GPU speeds. They also feature a faster neural engine to analyze photos and videos in real-time, as well as Machine Learning Accelerators to help the CPU reach over a trillion operations per second.

The main highlight of the iPhone 11 Pro duo is, of course, the cameras which are prominently located and housed in a gigantic square camera module on the flipside. The camera setup includes a trio of 12MP shooter comprising of Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto camera for low-light photography. Similar to the cheaper iPhone 11, the two 11 Pro get a 12-megapixel front shooter, which can shoot both 4K and slow-motion videos. The 12MP front boasts of a wider lens for photos, as well as improved FaceID sensing which allows you to unlock your device in a few seconds. The Night more is present here too, and similar to the iPhone11, it automatically sets in when you’re shooting in the dark.

The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will start at $999 (£1049 in the UK and at $1,099 (£1149) in that order. You will be able to pre-order both devices beginning this Friday, September 13th, at 5 am Pacific, and the phones will ship on September 20th.

These devices will be available via Apple Authorized Resellers and select carriers in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB models in midnight green, space gray, silver, and gold.
