Honor unveils Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Frost, and PocketVision app unveiled at IFA

While the Huawei P30 Pro got two refined and stylish pain job which it calls Misty Lavender and Mystic Blue, the Honor sub-brand also refreshed its Honor 20 Pro with the launch of fresh new color. Meet the Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Frost – a new paint job inspired by Iceland – the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon to be precise. Honor says this color is the “World’s First Dynamic Holographic Design.”

As expected, the new Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Frost is nothing new, but just a new color option, but one with a shimmering look that puts the lower-cost Honor 20 Pro into bigger aesthetic leagues. It sits somewhere close to the vivid, multicolored rear designs seen in most of Samsung’s and Huawei phones.

Beside the Honor 20 Pro Icelandic Frost, Honor also hinted that the Magic UI 3 will be available next month for beta testers. And speaking of the Icelandic hue, the company has yet to detail the release date and price.

Just to remind you, the Honor 20 Pro flaunts a 6.29-inch IPS displays with FHD+ resolutions and a punch hole on the top left side. Under its hood, the flagship device comes with the flagship Kirin 980 chipset for snappy performance.

Still, at the IFA in Berlin, Huawei also announced a new app called “PocketVision.”It uses AI and the Quad camera on the Honor 20 series to help the visually impaired. This it does by helping the impaired read documents, menus, and other hard to read texts. PocketVision works in three modes: Text-to-Speech, Zoom-In, and Negative Image.

  • Text-to-Speech Mode: powered by HONOR HiAI and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, this mode helps to convert pictures to text faster and more accurately. It then narrates the text from books, documents, menus and more with ease.
  • Zoom-In Mode: leveraging the HONOR 20 PRO’s 48MP quad-camera lens and 8MP telephoto lens for ultra-clarity, this mode allows users to zoom into text using the volume buttons on their device, making even the smallest type larger, less blurry and more legible.
  • Negative Image Mode: providing a range of color filters to enhance the text, this mode improves the contrast of printed materials for people who struggle to see certain colors.
