After we got confirmation that the parent brand –Xiaomi will be launching a Xiaomi phone with the MediaTek Helio G90 / Helio G90T in India pretty soon, Xiaomi off-shot Redmi has also confirmed the brand interest in the latest Gaming focused SoC from Taiwan.
The confirmations come from Redmi’s Weibo account and Redmi General Lu Weibing. Yes, you read right, the confirmation is courtesy of the company’s Weibo page, and also cemented by a post from one of the brand’s bigwig – Redmi General Lu Weibing. The official Weibo post simply puts it this way: Redmi phone with Helio G90T will be meeting Redmi fans soon, while Lu Weibing right after the official introduction of the Helio G90 series asked fans if they will be interested in an Helio G90T powered Redmi Phone. The responses are of course, overwhelmingly positive.
Sadly, that is about all that has been revealed. Neither the official Redmi Weibo and Lu Weibing have revealed a single detail. However, there are indications the Redmi phone might just debut later in August.
We also have no idea what marketing name the Redmi team will adopt for its first gaming phone. However, there are indications the device might pack some interesting specs. Recall that the Xiaomi’s spin-off brand already teased a device with a 64MP camera, and given that the Helio G90T supports up to a 64MP camera, it is plausible we might see a combo of the Helio G90T and the 64MP camera in a Redmi phone pretty soon.
The newly unveiled chipset boasts of MediaTek’s HyperEngine game technology, featuring an array of engines to boost the mobile gaming experience:
Notably, the HyperEngine tech features a networking engine which can automatically combine WiFi and LTE connectivity to boost signal strength.
It also has a dual WiFi connectivity support that allows a single device to connect simultaneously to two routers for a more reliable connection and decreased latency. HDR10 support and display touch acceleration are also present to add to the fluid in-game experience.
Other than Xiaomi and its spin-off brand Redmi, we hope other OEMs to churn out devices with the new SoCs soon.
