Future iPhone could use Apple logo as a notification light

Apple‘s recently announced iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max are just beginning to hit the shelves in markets across the Globe, and as expected, rumors about next year’s iPhones are beginning to creep in. 9to5Mac citing Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently hinted that the 2020 iPhones might finally get an “all-new form factor design”. Specifically, the 2020iPhone might be the end of the display notch and various other bits of iPhone style we’ve become accustomed to. Also expected to come on board next year’s iPhone is support for the blazing 5G connectivity, as well as some “camera function upgrades”.

While we are not sure what would come to our ways in terms of design, a new patent filing suggests Apple could be mulling the possibility of adding subtle color-changing elements to the back of future iPhones.

First spotted by AppleInsider, the new is for “Electronic Devices with Adjustable Decoration” effectively describes how a decorative element can be added to a casing. This essentially suggests the famous Apple logo, or perhaps some other fittings on top the phone’s casing could glow with signals from the OS.

The patent also referenced some incoming communications or calendar alerts, which might change the appearance of different parts of the case. These decorations could also be used to give feedback from the camera. Besides the chances of seeing this design element in future iPhones, there are chances it could also extend to the MacBooks and other Apple hardware.

iPhone 2020, and Macbook Pro

While it might be a new addition to the iPhone, it is worth noting that such designs like the glowing Apple logo existed in the company’s Macbooks released before the 2016 Macbook Pro.
