How to Change Your Twitch Username (Using a Web Browser)

Learning how to change your Twitch username with a web browser is quite easy, all you have to do is follow the sets of instructions outlined below.

  1. Open the Twitch website on your web browser.

  2. Log into your account.

  3. Click on your Profile icon (it’s found at the upper right corner of your screen).

  4. A drop-down would appear and from that menu, click on Settings.

  5. Scroll to the Profile Settings

  6. You should find a section labeled Username. Under that section, click on the Pencil icon next to your username.

  7. Now type in your new Twitch username into the required field. Sometimes the username you choose may be taken and if that’s the case you’d be notified with a red message under the field explaining the issue. For such a case you’d have to keep tweaking your desired username till you get one that you are satisfied with and hasn’t been taken already (a green checkmark should appear).

  8. Finally, click on Update.

For both the web browser approach and the desktop app approach, once you change your username to your preferred choice you won’t be able to do so for another 60 days. So ensure that you are comfortable with the new username you have chosen.

Also, note that once you change your username you’ll need to inform people of the change of URL as Twitch doesn’t automatically redirect your old username to the new one.
