How to Delete Apps on Apple TV from Your Home Screen

You can easily delete apps from your Apple TV Home Screen using the following steps below.

  1. Connect your TV to a power outlet and switch on the TV.
  2. Use your remote control to highlight the desired app you want to delete.
  3. Click and hold onto the touchpad on your remote until the highlighted app begins to shake.
  4. Click on the Play/Pause button on the remote for options.
  5. Once the above action is done, a menu will pop-up, on that menu highlight the Delete option using your remote control and press the touchpad on your remote control.
  6. A confirmation notification window will pop-up and on that screen press the Delete button again.

How to Delete Apps on Apple TV Using the Settings App

The particular method is convenient for apps that eat up a lot of space on your Apple TV. With the following steps outlined below, I’ll be showing you how to delete apps on Apple TV using the settings method.

  1. Connect your TV to a power outlet and switch on the TV.
  2. Navigate to the Settings app from your home screen and open the app using your touchpad.
  3. From the Settings screen click on General.
  4. Scroll down until you find Manage Storage and click on it.
  5. Scroll through the list of apps installed on your Apple TV until you find the app you want to delete and click on the trash next to the app.
  6. A notification screen will pop-up and on that screen, click on Delete using your remote.
  7. Finally, the selected app is deleted from your TV and any other TV linked with the iCloud home screen for multiple Apple TVs.

How to Delete Apps on Apple TV (Older Models)

Now if you are using a 2nd Generation or a 3rd Generation Apple TV, you will not be able to delete apps but you can only hide the apps you no longer want to see appear on the home screen, this is because, for these generations of TV’s, Apple restricts the users from installing their own apps on these models. Follow the following steps below to hide apps on your Apple TV.

  1. Connect your TV to a power outlet and switch on the TV.
  2. Navigate to the Settings app from your home screen and open the app using your touchpad.
  3. From the Settings screen click on General.
  4. Scroll down until you find Manage Storage and click on it.
  5. Scroll through the list of apps installed on your Apple TV until you find the app you want to delete and click on the trash next to the app.
  6. A notification screen will pop-up and on that screen, click on Hide using your remote.
