Lenovo owned Motorola is all set to enter into the flagship market segment year after it has been conspicuously missing from the premium market. The firm made this known earlier this week via a tweet when it officially announced a launch event for later this month. The event, which obviously will be presented online as per the tweet will hold on April 22nd. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. PT and will be the launchpad for an unnamed flagship Motorola smartphone, presumably the Motorola Edge+. We are not sure if the event will be on a live stream, however, we expect the firm to come up with more details in the coming days.
While exact details are still missing, the announcement comes with an accompanying teaser video with footage of a device with a waterfall display. This doesn’t confirm the name of the device but confirms prevailing rumors of the imminent launch of the flagship Motorola Edge+.
Reports about the Motorola Edge+ have been around for a while and was even rumored to have been made official at the MWC 2020, but for the COVID-19 Pandemic, the MWC never held.
Motorola Edge+ rumored specs
The Motorola Edge+ if previous reports and leaks is anything to take seriously will come with a waterfall display with some enticing internals. It is expected to come with a curved hole-punch display, slim bezels all around and a 90Hz display which falls short of the trending 120Hz display. Internally, we expected the Edge plus to come with the flagship Snapdragon 865 processor with up to 12GB of RAM, and a massive 5,000 mAh battery cell.
On the camera front, the Edge+ is expected to highlight a 108-megapixel main sensor, and that will be assisted by a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. There are reports, too, of a more basic Motorola Edge with less sophisticated internals. It will highlight a 64MP main sensor, perhaps with some more cost-cutting downgrade.
