Honor 30 P30+

Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and Honor 30 Pro+ now official

Just yesterday, the Chinese smartphone maker Oneplus joined the big league of smartphone maker when it officially announced the launch of the Oneplus 8 series amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. Today, Huawei’s backed Honor brand is following suit with the launch of its flagship and camera focused Honor 30 series. Much like its parent company that released the Huawei P40 Pro+ a while ago, Honor today announced the Honor 30 Pro+. That is in addition to the base Honor 30, and the Honor 30 Pro, effectively rating the number of devices in the Honor 30 series to a total of three.

In all, all three devices have somethings in common. First, the Chinese brand is marketing the base Honor 30 as a compact device at185 grams and 8.1mm in thickness as against the Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+ which come in at  8.38mm body and weigh 186 grams and 190 grams respectively. Other than that, the three new smartphones get basically the same designs with a 3D curved back for better. These devices also have in common an under-display fingerprint scanner, punch hole on the front as well as similar camera configurations.

Speaking of which the Honor 30  Pro+ already earned a whooping 125 score on 125 on DxOMark. That, however, doesn’t make it the greatest camera smartphone ever made, the Huawei P40 Pro is a step ahead of it with 128 points on the camera rating site.

Honor 30, 30 Pro, 30 Pro+ Cameras

In terms of camera counts, the Honor 30 trumps both the 30 Pro and 30 Pro+, but that doest make it the best in terms of capabilities. It features a Quad-camera setup on its rear panel against the Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro+ with triple camera setup.

For the Honor30 Pro+, the device highlights a 50 MPmain camera with 1/1.28” IMX700 sensor by Sony. That is coupled with an 8MP periscope telephoto shooter with 5x optical zoom and up to 50x hybrid zoom, as well as, a 16MP ultrawide cam with a 17mm equivalent lens that doubles as a macro camera. The device is capable of 4K videos at 60 fps, while it also supports AI RAW photos – during a long exposure, it captures multiple RAW shots and then blends them into one RAW image for further editing.

The Honor 30 Pro shares basically the same camera specs with the 30 Pro+ model. However, it drops the 50 MPmain camera sensor for a 40-megapixel main camera sensor. They both share feature dual selfie cameras – 2MP + 8MP (wide angle) sensors, while the base Honor 30 makes do with a single 32MP sensor.
