Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi officially unwrapped the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max sometime last week. Both devices have been launched in India as the newest additions to the most popular smartphone series in the country and could be heading to other countries soon. First on the list of countries to get the Redmi Note 9 series could be Malaysia, but unlike in India where the devices is available as the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Note 9 Pro, those in Malaysia might be receiving the Redmi Note 9s.
Ahead of its debut in the country, Xiaomi Malaysia has put up a teaser hyping the launch of the Redmi Note 9s in the country. The teaser reveals the device will be launched in the country on March 23, perhaps in an online event. Nothing else has been revealed other than the launch date. However, the device already passed the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia where it was revealed it is a dual-SIM device that supports 4G LTE. There’s also support for 802.11ac WiFi but it lacks NFC support, which is currently offered on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
With the Redmi Note 9s naming the upcoming device should arrive as a watered-down variant and, perhaps, the most basic of the Redmi Note 9 series. However, there are also speculations that Xiaomi might not be releasing the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max that were introduced in India for the Malaysian market, instead, the country will be getting the Redmi Note 9s. Pre-order is expected to begin shortly after the event via its official online stores.
