PS5 – Sony to reveal specs details and launch date later today

Major tech and even social events World over have all been put at a standstill due to the far-reaching effect of the Coronavirus. However, we still get to see some announcements happening only on the web. Following recent news that Microsoft would be revealing full specs for the Xbox Series X console, its main rival in that segment – Sony has said it will reveal details about its next-generation gaming console – the PS5 later today.

While we hope the PS5 gaming console will arrive much later, perhaps, in holiday 2020, the Japanese firm tweeted Tuesday that it will offer a “deep dive” into the PS5 on Wednesday. The online-only event will be anchored by system lead architect Mark Cerny who will talk about the “PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games.”

The event is scheduled for on Wednesday, March 18 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, and will be aired live on at PlayStation Blog: https://blog.us.playstation.com.

Details about Sony’s upcoming PS5 have been making the rounds since 2019, with official teasers backing up such leaked details.

The special event follows Sony’s confirmation of the PlayStation 5 name back in October, and details about the power of the console earlier in 2019. While we already know the PS5 will come with a bump in storage, as well as get haptic feedback for a more refined vibration when playing a game, previous reports have it that the gaming console will come with an eight-core CPU (which will be based on AMD’s third-gen Ryzen line) and a custom GPU based on AMD’s Radeon Navi hardware. Reports are rife too that the console will come supporting 8K resolutions, 3D audio, 4K gaming at 120Hz, with a lower power consumption option.
