Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand ahead of the widely Mi 10 from the parent brand has today released an entry-level smartphone. Dubbed the Redmi 8A Dual, the new entrant is a soup up version of the Redmi 8A launched back in 2019. The biggest and most obvious change comes in the form of an additional rear camera.

While the Redmi 8A comes fitted with a single 12 MP F/1.8 Sony IMX363 camera with dual PD autofocus around the back, the new Redmi 8A Dual gets a combination of 13MP main and 2MP depth sensor modules, while retaining the 8MP front camera sensor.

Other than that, the Redmi 8A Dual is basically the same device as the Redmi 8A. It drops the Redmi 7A’s conventional design for a larger 6.22″ IPS display, still with  HD+ resolution, but now with a water-drop notch. It is layered with a Gorilla Glass 5 protection against accidental falls. The design material is purely plastic but the back panel has an Aura XGrip Design for a better handgrip. The smartphone also comes with a P2i coating so you need not worry about the occasional water spill.

A major highlight of the device is its massive 5,000 mAh battery that charges through a USB-C port at 18W, though it only comes bundled with a 10W charger.
