Xiaomi, which competes with Apple for the top position in the wearable market recently took a lot of inspiration for Apple when it released its first Apple Watch clone- the Xiaomi Mi Watch. Well, it looks like another well known Chinese brand – Oppo on the verge of releasing yet its own Apple Watch look alike. We first leant of an upcoming Oppo Watch back in August 2019 courtesy of the brand’s VP, though details were largely unavailable then.
Again at the Inno Day 2019, we saw a restricted image of the device, but that was enough to give us the first impression that the Oppo Watch will draw a lot of inspiration from the Apple Watch. While we still do not know much about the Watch from Oppo, the brand’s VP Brian Shen has shared another image of the smartwatch highlighting the 3D curved screen.
The Oppo Watch image as you can see below appears to have the same iconic ‘squircle’ (squared circle) design most often associated with the Apple Watch lineup.
The Oppo Watch with its “curved screen and 3D glass will be a game-changer”, according to the VP. While the latest image doesn’t reveal much about the left and right sides, previously leaked images suggest the Oppo Watch sport two buttons on the side instead of a crown and a button that the Apple Watch houses. One of the buttons appears to house a green notification light, while a tiny mic hole is seen between the two buttons.
Oppo Watch specs, price, launch and release date
In terms of specs, and features, the Oppo Watch is expected to feature the usual fitness tracking capabilities, cellular connectivity, and perhaps an ECG sensor. And for the launch date, Oppo recently rescheduled its MWC 2020 event for a later date in March. The Watch is expected to debut at the said March event.
