Wang Huang, founder, chairman of the board and chief executive officer at Huami had earlier in August confirmed that the next generation of Xiaomi’s fitness band the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is in the works.
While he revealed that there isn’t a definite launch date yet for the Mi Band 5, reports from 2019 suggest the fitness band might feature NFC function for both the domestic market and the global markets including India.
Now, we have a fresh report from China that reveals even more about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 5. Tizen Help reports that the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will feature a 1.2-inch display compared to the 0.95-inch screen on the Mi Band 4. This, the report says will ensure a better screen quality, as well as making it easy to read under direct sunlight than on previous models of the health band, so presumably, screen quality will be increased as well as size.
While we recommend taking all of these claims with a big pinch of salt, a separate report claims the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will launch at a starting price of about CNY 179 ($25) in China, while that is expected to go up north in other markets.
