Lenovo owned Motorola a few days ago started sending out media invites for a launch event tipped for February 23rd in Barcelona, Spain. While the company has yet to officially confirm what product it will unveil, rumors are rife that the Moto G8 and G8 Power, as well as the Motorola Edge+ will all be unveiled at the event. A third Motorola phone with support for the dreaded Stylus is also reportedly coming.
The said stylus toting phone earlier surfaced in leaked renders, and now more details have landed. The tipster who first tweeted about the stylus supported smartphone has now revealed that the device is indeed real, and will be called the Moto G Stylus. The Moto G stylus moniker suggests it will come as part of the G family and gain suggests it is a budget, and not a flagship phone as rumored.
Curious to know more about the Moto G stylus, the guys at SDA developers revealed that the device has the model number XT2043-4, while the FCC database lists it with the codename “sofia+”. Interestingly, the upcoming Moto G8 power is codenamed “sofiar”, thus fueling speculations the device might just be a variant of the G8 power. Our thinking is that the Moto G stylus, and the G8 Power might get the same design as well as internals, but with the Stylus been the major differences.
