Oppo Reno 3 with SA/NSA dual mode 5G, ColorOS 7 to go official in December

With the Reno 2 now on sales in various markets, attention is gradually now been shifted to the next in Oppo’s Reno series lineup. A leak that emanated from Weibo earlier this month gave us the first clue that the Oppo Reno 3 might be arriving soon, and now we have aa clear official confirmation.

Oppo at the ColorOS 7 launch event in China earlier today officially confirmed the Oppo Reno 3 will be launching soon. How soon is soon? Well, the Chinese phone maker made it clear that the device will launch later in December, but has yet to give a definite date.

Obviously, the Reno 3 will succeed the Oppo Reno 2. And that it will do not only in name but also with some upgraded hardware. It will be the first from Oppo’s stable to boot ColorOS 7 out of the box. We are not sure if it will get the latest Android 10 flavor. However, Oppo did confirm that the device much like the upcoming Honor V30 will have support for 5G standalone and non-stand alone (SA/NSA) sub-6GHz networks.

Oppo Reno 3 rumored specifications

Reports have it that the Reno 3 will come flaunting a 6.5-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, while it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 processor which is due to go official later in December. The device could be one of the first few to come with the chipset. It will be aided by 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage variants. There’s an in-display fingerprint sensor, though we are not sure if it is the optical or the ultra-sonic type.

Early reports say it will get a quad-camera setup on the rear panel. It is said to consist of a 60MP primary camera with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 13MP telephoto camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Whether or not the shark-fin pop-up front camera design will make a come back is yet to known.
