- HMD hasn’t shared specifics of the December event.
- Nokia 8.2, Nokia 5.2 are the two likely candidates
- These device might launch with Android 10 out of the box.
Nokia smartphone maker – HMD Global could be announcing a new smartphone soon following a seemingly 2-3 months product launch break. The brand via the official Nokia twitter handle hinted of a new phone launch later in December.
The launch event taking place on December 5th might be the last for the year from HMD’s Nokia before heading to CES 2020 where a few other devices might be announced. Apart from a short video clip announcing the launch, Nokia has yet to drop any specifics about the device it will be unveiling on the said date.
However, there are quite a number of unreleased smartphones that will likely be unveiled come December 5th. The Nokia 8.2 is the first major suspect, and that is based on the premise that the 8.1 was unveiled way back in 2018 on the same date.

Another device likely to arrive on December 5th is the Nokia 5.2. It was released in 2018 and has yet to get a successor, even though other devices released back then including Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 7.1 have all gotten successors. Lastly, the Nokia 2.3 might also be getting a launch on the date despite the Nokia 2.2 arriving only a few months back Details about the 2.3 first surfaced on the net earlier this month. The leak reveals the device could come with a 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage variant. It is expected to come in Sand, Cyan Green and Charcoal colors, while a MediaTek SoC might be the preferred chipset.
