Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi earlier held an event in China, where it revealed some salient feature that will come with its upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G. The center point of the China event is the unveiling of the 30W Mi Charge Turbo wireless fast charging technology. Xiaomi is touting the new tech as the world’s first 30W wireless charging solution, of course, we are yet to see any other wireless charging solution that beats this.

While Xiaomi hasn’t detailed the working specifics of its 30W Mi Charge Turbo wireless fast charging technology, the brand did reveal that the charging solution is higher than a number of current generation wired charging solutions. The new wireless charging tech is touted to jack up a 4,000mAh battery phone from 0% to 50% in just 25 minutes, and up to 100% in just 70 just minutes.

The company says the Mi Charge Turbo 30W fast wireless charging solution also delivers high-power wireless reverse charging, which it claims can deliver up to 10W charge for Bluetooth headsets, smartwatches, electric toothbrushes, and of course mobile phones. Citing example, Xiaomi claims the 30Watts wireless charging tech can reverse-charge the iPhone Xs Max up to 20% in 30 minutes, making it a faster option than the Huawei P30 Pro which delivered 13% charge.

The Xiaomi Mi Charge Turbo 30W fast wireless charging solution is housed in a terminal with a wireless charging pad that delivers the high charging speed, though the company says work is ongoing on a truly wireless tech without a charging pad.

Xiaomi says the new 30W wireless charging tech will make its debut with the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G which has been floating around the rumor mills for a while now. It confirmed that the device will arrive later this month, though with no definite date yet.

Besides the Mi Charge Turbo 30W fast wireless charging solution, Xiaomi also presented two new wireless chargers – a 30W Mi Charge Turbo based charger that is also Qi-compatible, and a second larger 20W charger which takes away from users the burden of having to align their phone perfectly.
