The Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro only recently debuted, and unlike what was rumored, the Redmi 8 series didn’t launch alongside the device. Although we do know it exists, as the Redmi 8 surfaced on TENAA last month, and now, a more basic variant of the device has surfaced on TENAA revealing a completely new design that contradicts previously leaked renders.
The listing isn’t all that revealing, but we could glean a few things from the available images. It reveals a metal or plastic back panel fitted with a single rear camera contrary to previously leaked images, with all the buttons on the right side. Sadly, the device isn’t getting a fingerprint scanner, which is all that understandable given its price segment. Upfront, there is a tiny water-drop notch, which obviously houses the single rear camera, and below the display, the device houses a slim bezel housing the Redmi logo.
Other than the design, the TENAA listing further reveals that the Redmi 8A supports 4G LTE connectivity, packs dual-SIM card slots, and run on Android operating system.
Xiaomi backed Redmi has yet to throw its weight behind the Redmi 8A, neither has it revealed a launch date. However, we’ll know some or all the specs details and pricing in the coming weeks.
