Lenovo owned Motorola today at the IFA trade show in Berlin announced a new mid-ranger that puts it in the league of OEMs with Quad-camera smartphones. Welcome the Motorola One ZOOM – the most recent mid-ranger Moto smartphones and the best in Moto’s One lineup.

The mid-ranger much like the recently released Motorola One Action offers premium specs and features at affordable price. It is Motorola’s first-ever smartphone to come fitted with a Quad-camera setup on the rear, placing it in the same league as with Samsung, Huawei, and a few other OEMs.

Similar to the One Action, the key selling point here is the camera arrays which as we mentioned earlier comes with a Quad-camera setup. The main shooter is a 48-megapixel sensor (with quad-pixel 12-megapixel tech and offers OIS), coupled with an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide with a 117-degree field of view, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor for portrait mode shots.  The Telephoto lens comes with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and that is perhaps where the brand got the Motorola One Zoom moniker. Upfront, the One Zoom has a 25MP sensor with Pixel binning for selfies and video calls.

In the camera app, the One Zoom gets a Night Vision feature which makes it the best choice for use in low light environments. The 3x optical zoom can be enhanced with 10x hybrid zoom — both of which are supported by OIS for improved sharpness. The ultra-wide-angle camera captures a huge canvas, though it introduces some optical distortion. Paired with the depth sensor, the main camera is able to generate bokeh shots with blurred backgrounds and sharp subjects.

Motorola One ZOOM Design, Display, and SoC

Available only in purple, bronze, and gray color options, the Motorola One ZOOM is embedded in a well-polished aluminum chassis which house the Quad camera on the flip side with no visible fingerprint scanner. The device come coated with a 2.5D Panda King Glass on the front, while the rear is layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

It parades a 6.39 inches OLED display with 2,340 by 1,080-pixel resolutions for a 19:9 aspect ratio. The front bezels are very thin, which helps the screen pop when viewing content. Notably, the devices drops the rear fingerprint scanner for an embedded fingerprint scanner, while the rear Motorola icon now simply glows when your hone faces down.

Under the hood, the Motorola One Zoom gets the same processing power as the Moto Z4- the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, which luckily can be expanded up to 512GB using MicroSD card.

The device is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery with support for 15W TurboPower fast charging through the USB-C port. Lastly, we had love to point out that the One Zoom has a 3.5mm headphone jack, and is also splash-proof.

Motorola One Zoom Pricing and availability
