It turns out that the Redmi event held earlier today wasn’t for a proper product launch, instead, the brand, it parent company Xiaomi, as well as Samsung officially announced partnership to bring in a product to the market in the coming months. As per the announcement, Xiaomi and Redmi will officially launch their first smartphone with Samsung’s latest 64MP ISOCELL sensor to market in Q4 of this year.
The brand is so confident it will be the first brand to push out a market-ready smartphone with the sensor in the coming months. You will recall that OPPO sub-brand Realme is also working on a similar device, but it remains to be seen what will come out of its August 8 event.
As per the official introduction, Samsung’s latest sensor should pack in 38% more pixels than a 48MP camera, this the Smartphone maker -Xiaomi boasts will help users capture brighter, vibrant and more detailed images. It uses a huge 1/1.7-inch sensor with 1.6μm-sized pixels (when combined from 4 into 1), improved color reproduction, as well as Hybrid 3D HDR that promises higher dynamic range compared to current sens.
108MP Samsung ISOCELL Camera Sensor
Besides announcing details of the upcoming device, Xiaomi at the event also announced that it will be the first OEM to release a device with Samsung’s 108MP ISOCELL sensors, which should allow for 27MP pixel-binned images. While the brand didn’t delve into details, a tweet from well-known leakster @Iceuniverse says the sensor will make its first debut in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. This, perhaps explains why Xiaomi earlier promised that the Mi Mix 4 will come with a “better than 64MP” camera sensor.
