UMIDIGI looks set to garner some media attention to itself as it is seemingly set to release a smartphone with Samsung’s 64MP GW1 camera sensor. This is in addition to Redmi, Xiaomi, and Redmi all of which have teased confirmed releasing devices with the sensor in the coming months. While we have no details of other devices, the UMIDIGI Z5 Pro will be the brand’s first 64MP camera phone.
UMIDIGI shared some camera sample taken with the 64MP main sensor of its next flagship phone – the UMIDIGI Z5 Pro. And the brand makes bold to say it will be one of the first few brands in the world to launch with the new 64MP Samsung sensor. This new 64MP sensor is confirmed to be the recently announced Samsung ISOCELL GW1. Now, Xiaomi and Realme won’t be the only two companies to offer this feature soon.
The UMIDIGI Z5 Pro 64MP sample image shows a cat and a zoomed-in section of the cat’s fur. Fortunately, the sample has a stamp that indicates the 64MP sensor is from Samsung, which should be the same Samsung ISOCELL GW1 as Xiaomi and Realme’s 64MP sensor. There’s not much else to say about the photo, although it certainly seems to pack plenty of detail. The Samsung GW1 sensor measures 1/1.7″ in size with 1.6um pixel size and is 38% larger than the current 48MP sensor. It uses ISOCELL Plus technology that increases light intake and optimizes colors more accurately resulting in bright, sharp and vibrant images across different lighting environments.
UMIDIGI Z5 Pro Quad-camera
Other details are still under the wraps, however, the teaser reveals that the UMIDIGI Z5 Pro will come with a Quad-camera setup. A 64MP camera, coupled with a wide-angle lens, a depth sensor, and a fourth sensor.
