The Redmi Note series of Xiaomi’s phone has been the company’s best sellers for a couple of years now, and for good reasons – they offer value for money. The Redmi Note 7 series stepped in earlier this year and has been adjudged one of the biggest year-on-year update in the lineup so far, so it is only logical to act fast in order to cement the brand’s position at the top of India’s smartphone segment. Its only been a couple of months since the Redmi Note 7 first arrived, and we are beginning to hear news of the impending launch of the Redmi Note 8.
Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has been teasing both Quad camera smartphones with 48MP sensor and a separate device with a 64-megapixel sensor. Details about these devices have been sparse, though rumors say the 64MP camera phone could be the Redmi Note 8. While it isn’t secret that the brand has a 64MP camera smartphone in the making, same can not be said of the existence of the Redmi Note 8, but all that changes now, as the brand CEO has now confirmed the Remi Note 8 moniker.
General Manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, took to Weibo today to share some details about the Redmi Note 8. Perhaps, he has a pre-production unit of the device in his possession. We say so because the said Weibo post was made using a Note 8 Android Phone which we believe is the Redmi Note 8.
Apparently teasing the upcoming device, Lu Weibing in the Weibo post says he has a new machine in his possession. Furthermore, he hinted that the machine takes great photos, has a longer battery life, a higher-screen-to-body ratio with a more comfortable feel.
Do note that there is nowhere in the post that Lu Weibing made reference to a 64MP camera phone, so we are still not sure if the Redmi Note 8 is the same 64MP camera phone the brand had teased in the past.
Separately, Lu Weibing had a few days some news about the same Redmi Note 8. When asked by some Redmi fans when to expect the device, the GM confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 is coming soon enough and it will be “stronger than the next door”, as per Google translate. Perhaps what he meant is that it’s going to crush the competition or it’s a major improvement over its predecessor.
