Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi is all set to reveal its very first 64MP camera smartphone – the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. The device has been in the news for some days now, and as expected, Redmi in its usual manner will drip-feed us with information about the upcoming device that will be launching on August 29.
While we already know that the device will come fitted with a Quad-camera setup, a fresh tip from MediaTek reveals the device’s internal SoC. The chipset maker in a Weibo post confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 and 8 Pro will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. The Helio G90T was announced earlier last month as a gaming-focused SoC, and following the announcement, the Redmi brand immediately confirmed its intention to launch devices powered by the new SoC.
The Redmi Note 8 has been confirmed to come with a Quad Camera setup, but while the Pro variant will get Samsung’s 64MP sensor, the non-pro version will make do with the second generation 48MP sensor. We are pretty sure the device will get NFC support, and of course, a fingerprint scanner, perhaps for the Note 8, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro might get the under-display fingerprint treatment.
Other details are not yet in the open, though we expect them to come out bit by bit in the coming days.
