Oppo took on Huawei’s periscope zoom when it announced the OPPO Reno with 10x zoom earlier this year. The Chinese firm feels it has yet to offer its best on the camera scene, so a new update is on the horizon. The Chinese firm has announced a launch event for August 28 in India for the launch of the OPPO Reno 2.
The company made the disclosure on Twitter earlier this morning with a teaser hinting at the launch of the Oppo Reno 2. Notably, the company says the Reno 2 will come with an updated version of its cam tech – the 20x zoom and quad rear cameras. The post reveals that the OPPO Reno 2 will keep the unique Sharkfin pop-up for the selfie camera.
Details of the 20X Zoom remain unknown, but we expect up to 20x hybrid zoom given that the 10X Zoom offered a 6x periscope camera, 10x hybrid zoom, and 60x digital zoom. We also do not have the Quad camera details, but we expect the standard, ultra-wide cameras, and of course a depth sensor.
If OPPO follows the Renno 10x zoom standard, then we expect a Reno 2 with flagship-grade specs including the SD855+. Although there might be other variants with upper-midrange specs.
