Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek earlier today announced its entry into the mobile gaming segment with the unveiling of the Helio G-series chipsets — the new Helio G90 and Helio G90T. These chipsets get MediaTek HyperEngine Game Technology and are made for budget smartphones.
While the firm has yet to reveal the exact time devices with the chis will hit the market, the company’s General Manager, Wireless Communication, MediaTek, revealed to the Mobile Indian that the MediaTek Helio G90T will first debut in a Xiaomi smartphone.
The report has also been given more credence with a tweet from one of Xiaomi’s key executive. The CEO of Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain in a tweet hinted at the imminent launch of a Xiaomi phone powered by the latest revealed Helio G90T. Still, the company’s India head hasn’t also given any definite date, but rather says the device is “Coming soon!”
The tweet reads in part;
We’ll launch a phone with the incredible, high performance G90T
Speaking of the Xiaomi phone with the Helio G90, rumors are rife that it might be the Redmi Note 8, though there are no evidence to back up the claims. We do not have many details at our disposal right now, but it would be interesting to see how Xiaomi markets a main-stream Redmi or Xiaomi device as a gaming phone. The two chipsets from MediaTek are aimed directly at the SD 730G, it remains to see how powerful and optimized the chipset could be in a real-life smartphone.
These are amazing #gaming chipsets – Cortex A76 CPU, Mali G76 GPU & Antutu > 220K. ?
