VIVO Z5

Chinese phone maker today at an event in China finally unveiled the VIVO Z5-  the sequel to the VIVO Z5x which the brand already rebadged as the Vivo Z1Pro in India. The device is in a way an upgrade over the Z5x, while there are a few specs downgrades too.

First off, the device ditches the hole-punch display on the Z5x for a water-drop display. It has a 6.38-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a slightly lower STBR – 90% screen-to-body ratio from the 90.7% on the Z5X. The devices drop the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for an in-display scanner.

Under the hood, the VIVO Z5 gets a slightly upgraded SoC – the Octa-core Snapdragon 712 with a base 6GB RAM with 64GB / 128GB / 256GB storage options, and a higher 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage.

Much like the VIVO Z5x, the VIVO Z5 gets a trio of cameras on its rear panel. It comprises of a 48MP primary sensor, though we are not sure if this is from Sony or Samsung. Whatever the case is, the primary camera is complemented by an 8MP wide-angle and 2MP depth of field sensors. And for selfies, there is an upgrade from a 16MPsensor to a 32MP selfie camera.

The Vivo Z5 gets a slightly smaller 4500mAh battery but it has a USB-C port and importantly, it supports Vivo’s FlashCharge technology with a power transfer rate of 22.5 watts. Vivo claims that this technology can charge 50% of the battery in 30 minutes.
