HMD Global has a new Nokia flagship smartphone in the works, according to Nokiapoweruser’s latest report. Dubbed the Nokia 9.1 Pureview, the upcoming device will launch as HMD’s second flagship of the year.
The Nokia 9.1 PureView as per the report will launch just in time to right the wrong of the standard Nokia 9 Pureview. Launched back at the MWC in Feb, the Nokia 9 PureView features the dated SD 845 which powers last year’s flagship from its major rivals.
And much like the Nokia 9 Pureview, the Nokia 9.1 Pureview major highlight will be its camera capabilities. majorly nighttime and video recording prowess. And speaking of that, source says Nokia is working closely with Light for the development and optimization of the camera module and the software.
Other than the cameras, the device as per the source will come powered by the SD 855 SoC with 5G connectivity. Nokia perhaps isn’t quite keen on playing the catchup game here. Other brands are mulling releasing second flagship devices with the latest SD 855+, so we had expected the firm to look on that direction too.
We are not sure the Nokia 9.1 Pureview will retain HMD’s Penta-camera setup on the rear, however, the source says the device has a hole for the front camera similar to Nokia X71.
Nokia 9.1 Pureview Release date
The device was reportedly tipped to launch in Q3 2019 but HMD Global halted the announcement, as it needed more time to fix some issues including those related to its camera capabilities.
